In September 2026, students from the COAST Master’s programme participated in two field-based learning activities designed to apply methodological skills and approaches developed through the Erasmus+ project TRACE – Tracing Climate Change by Geomorphological Approach.
For first-year (M1) students, the SATSHORE week, jointly organised with the GMS Master’s programme and supported by Aix-Marseille University’s OCEAN Institute, provided practical training in shoreline identification and monitoring using satellite imagery. Students also gained hands-on experience with several field survey techniques, including drone surveys, DGPS measurements and bathymetric surveys.
The second-year (M2) students took part in the INTERLIT week in Corsica, organised jointly with the IMWEB Master’s programme and supported by AMU’s ITEM Institute. During the field activities, students analysed beach profiles and investigated coastal morphodynamics, while also exploring coastal ecology through a combination of direct observations and interdisciplinary approaches.
Together, the two field experiences illustrate an important dimension of the TRACE project’s longer-term impact: the transfer of knowledge, methodologies and pedagogical experience developed within the project into university teaching. By integrating these approaches into the field activities of the COAST Master’s programme, the experience gained through TRACE continues to contribute to the practical training of future specialists in coastal environments and geomorphology.
