Marilena is a mathematician with a Master’s degree in STEM Education who is passionate about teaching and designing innovative lessons in STEAM fields. She believes that embodiment is crucial in the learning process. Her professional experience includes roles as a STEM Director and Education Manager for NGOs and universities, where she was responsible for designing STEM workshops and long-term programs, developing educational materials, and teaching guidebooks, as well as coordinating and training educators. Marilena has directed the educational content for the Generation Next platform and appears as an educator in the platform’s STEM video lessons.
Currently working as a mathematics teacher and a STEM educator in natural sciences and educational technology, she focuses on exploratory and experiential learning. She has also participated in dance and theater improvisation training programs, incorporating these principles into her workshops. Well-versed in the Makerspace philosophy, she uses technologies such as laser cutting, 3D printing, woodworking, and sewing to bring her ideas to life.
Marilena serves as a board member of the Hellenic Educational Society of STEM – E3STEM and manages educational projects that collaborate with universities, institutions, and organizations. She has managed several Erasmus+ KA2 programs, including “Maths in Motion,” “TRACE – Tracing Climate Change,” and “Augmented Reality for Schools,” combining her passion for travel and collaboration with educators from diverse cultures. She has participated in various Erasmus+ training programs designed for educators and youth workers.
In her free time, Marilena enjoys climbing, traveling, and volunteering. She has volunteered across Europe and Africa at events such as Science Festivals, TEDx Academy, Maker Fairs, and community service projects. Always eager to engage with active people and explore areas that fascinate her, she continues to seek opportunities for personal and professional development.
